Squash Canada Names Trevor Borland as Women's National Program Assistant Coach
Squash Canada is pleased to announce that Trevor Borland of Winnipeg, MB has been named as the Women’s National Program Assistant Coach. Trevor is currently the head squash professional at the Winnipeg Winter Club and the provincial coach for the provinces juniors. In addition he has worked with several of Canada’s top female players including world number 38 Alana Miller and 2010 Canadian Junior U19 Champion Alix Younger. Trevor brings plenty of experience to the position having previously worked with Squash Canada as a mentored coach at the 1999 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg, MB, an assistant coach at the 2006 World Junior Men’s Championships in New Zealand and a project coach at the 2008 Panamerican Junior Championships in Peru. In the women’s national program assistant coach position Trevor will work closely with Women’s National Program head coach Shauna Flath in preparing the senior and Espoir women’s national squads for international competitions, including the 2010 Commonwealth Games, 2010 Panamerican Championships, and 2010 World Team Championships. “We are very excited to be bringing Trevor on board, he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that will be a great asset in moving the women’s national program forward” says Flath. Trevor assumes his role immediately and will first meet with the women’s national squads at the 2010 Canadian Squash Championships in Vancouver, May 5 – 8, 2010.
