2017 Canadian Junior Squash Championships Draw Formats

Draws of 32 or less:
  • Full feed-in
  • Main draw, Consolation, Bronze
  • Main draw winner is 1st, loser 2nd
  • Main draw has 3rd-4th match
  • Consolation winner is 5th place, loser 6th
  • Add in Consolation semi-final losers match to give 7th & 8th position

Draws of 64 or more:
  • Full feed-in with Classic Plate
  • Main Draw, Classic Plate, Consolation, Bronze
  • Consolation feed-in ends at Rd. of 16
  • Main Draw quarter-final losers go to the Classic Plate and play out positions 5-8
  • Consolation winner is 9th place, loser 10th

Practice courts will be made available at Hollyburn on Tues. April 18 from 10am-3pm, 7pm-10pm and Wed. April 19 10am-10pm prior to official matches.  To reserve a court please email your request to squash@hollyburn.org after April 1st.  Please include: preferred date, preferred time and number of players.  You will receive a reply confirmign your practice court(s).

Registration: Participants of the 2017 Canadian Junior Squash Championships must register via Squash Canada's online registration system. 

Entry Fee: $169.50 TOTAL ($150 + $19.50 HST)
Registration includes: official tournament souvenir, 2 x $10 meal vouchers for use at Hollyburn Country Club, 1 Saturday Championship meal, and the possibility of up to two pizza lunches at Evergreen Squash Club

Entry Deadline: March 29, 2017 at 11:59pm EST

Late Entries: Late entries will be accepted where space is available, after the entry deadline date and before the first meeting of the seeding committee and upon payment of the $25 late entry fee, plus $3.25 HST, total $28.25 CAD.
After such time, no late entries will be accepted.

  2. All Competitors must be under 19, 17, 15, or 13 years of age as of the final day of the Canadian Junior Squash Championships, as appopriate for the category they have entered.

Dress Code: Participants are required to wear athletic attire, non-marking soles and eye-guards are mandatory (as per Squash Canada's Eye Guard Policy)

POLICIES

REFUND POLICY
Requests for refunds of entry fees will be handled by Squash Canada upon receipt of written notice.  Refund requests will be treated in accordance with the following regulations:
 
  • Withdrawals prior and up to the entry deadline date will receive a full refund less a $5 processing fee.
  • Withdrawals from singles Championships after the entry deadline date until seedings are first published will receive a 50% refund.
  • No refund will be given after the final seedings or draws are posted, except for medical reasons or bereavement. In these cases, medical notes or other documentation (e.g. doctor’s note, death notice, etc.) must be provided within 48 hours of the withdrawal for a refund to be considered. In these cases, when approved, a full refund less a $20 processing fee, will be issued.  
 
Eyeguard Policy
Eyeguards are mandatory for all participants. Please consult Squash Canada's Eyeguard Policy for the list of approved models.
 

Athlete Eligibility Policy
Only Canadian citizens, landed immigrants or persons residing continuously in Canada during the one year prior to the commencement of the Championships are eligible to enter the Canadian Junior Squash Championships.
 
All competitors must be members in good standing with their respective Provincial/Territorial Squash Association and/or Squash Canada.  Canadian citizens who reside outside of Canada are eligible to enter the Canadian Junior Squash Championships.
 
Notwithstanding a competitor may be a member in good standing with their respective Provincial/Territorial Squash Association and Squash Canada, where a competitor is subject to a sanction imposed by the Host Club, Squash Canada shall respect that sanction, including any sanction which may preclude the person from entering the premises and thus participating in the Championships, provided the sanction was imposed using fair procedures.  Specifically, the sanctioned person must have been informed by the Host Cub of the nature of the infraction and have been given an opportunity to provide information concerning the incident prior to the sanction being imposed.
 
All competitors must be under 19, 17, and 15 or 13 years of age as of the final day of the Canadian Junior Squash Championships, as appropriate for the category they have entered.
 

Canadian Rankings Policy regarding Withdrawals and Defaults
 
DEFAULTS:   
Any player who defaults from a match or fails to show up for a match once tournament play has begun, will lose points to their opponent.  The player who defaults from a match or fails to show for a match will automatically lose 12 points in the rankings.  Their opponent will gain 12 points for the default or no show.  A player who defaults multiple times in the same event will receive 12-point deduction for every match defaulted in the event. 
 
NOTE: A player may appeal their default by submitting a doctor’s note to Squash Canada (by either Fax or via scanned email) by no later than 7 days after the conclusion of the event. Only at the discretion of Squash Canada can a defaulted player have their 12 points reinstated.
 
 
WITHDRAWALS:
Any player who must withdraw from a tournament (with a legitimate reason) after the draw has been made will not lose points in the ranking system or will have points credited back provided he/she provides proper documentation to Squash Canada.  If a player withdraws due to injury he/she must provide a doctor’s note to Squash Canada (see above). 
 
Squash Canada considers a legitimate reason for withdrawing from a match/ event to be one of the following only:  family emergency, illness, injury or accident.  Squash Canada will not credit a players lost points for any other reason.  It is the player’s responsibility to inform Squash Canada as to the reason why they are requesting a credit for any points lost.  It will be Squash Canada’s decision to credit points back to the player or not.  A player must notify Squash Canada in writing within 7 days after the conclusion of the event. 
 
For the Canadian Junior Squash Championships, Squash Canada reserves the right to refuse future entries in cases where a pattern of defaults and/or withdrawals are evidenced.

Participants and guests will fly into Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The host are not responsible for making ground transportation arrangements.  Ground transportation from the airport to the Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier can be made via the Skytrain or Seabus
