Collegiate Squash Takes Centre Stage

The 2017 Canadian University and College Squash Championships action heats up today as squash athletes representing 12 Universities and Colleges from across the country take to the courts at the Northfield Racquet and Fitness Club in Waterloo (ON).  

2016 Women's Open Champion, Alison Richmond of Queens University, returns to defend her title.  Richmond's Queens University teammate, Erin Roberts finished 3rd last year but enters the 2017 championship seeded #2 in hopes of making it an all-Queens final on Sunday.  

Squash Canada National Team Program athlete, David Baillargeon (Transition Squad) sits at the #1 seed as he represents McGill University in the Men's Open.  Baillargeon will face fellow Transition Squad member, Matthew Henderson (Western University) and 2016 3rd place finisher, Mohanad Hekal of Ryerson University in a competitve Open division.

Over the course of the 3-day event, champions will be crowned in 6 divisions. Matches run Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the Women's Open final scheduled for 12:20pm, with the Men's Open final set to follow at 1:00pm.
