Since 1994 he has worked in the not-for-profit/charity sector at both the Provincial and National level in a variety of operational and management roles and took on the role of Chief Executive Officer of Skills/Compétences Canada in 2005. Currently Shaun manages a multimillion-dollar annual budget as well as nurtures relationships of all stakeholders from government, labour, education and business. Shaun oversees the activities of the national organization including all fundraising and sponsorship initiatives.

Shaun is bilingual in French and English, is passionate about sports and is an avid squash player. He currently serves as the VP of the Squash Outaouais board and he recently joined the Ottawa District Squash Association junior committee and has also served on a multitude of other national and international boards and committees over the years.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be able to bring what I have learned in the not-forprofit sector over the last 20+ years and apply it to one of my true passions, sport.” said Thorson. “I look forward to working with everyone in the squash community to grow the sport in Canada and give it the profile it rightly deserves.”

With Shaun's strong fundraising and sponsorship experience, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and more importantly his complete understanding of all aspects of financial management in a not-for-profit context, Squash Canada is confident that Shaun Thorson will be a tremendous asset to not only the board and the organization but to the future of squash in Canada.
