Squash Included In ParticipACTION’s 150 Play List

2017-01-19
In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, ParticipACTION has announced the final list of activities included in the 150 Play List.

Squash Canada is thrilled to confirm that squash has been named to the ParticipACTION 150 Play List.  ParticipACTION’s 150 Play List is the ultimate list of 150 physical activities that define us as Canadian.  Announced last week, the 150 Play List encourages everyone to move more and move often, and what better way to do that then to play the healthiest sport in the world, SQUASH!

The 150 Play List is a national program designed to encourage all Canadians to be physically active. Throughout 2017, every Canadian from coast to coast to coast will be challenged to complete as many physical activities on the list as possible.  As Canadians “get active” in each of these activities over the course of the year they can track their progress on a dedicated website, earn rewards and be entered for a chance to win weekly and monthly prizes.

The list was created based on over 465,000 votes received from people across the country, along with expert input from members of an advisory committee, who helped ensure the list reflected the diversity of Canada.

Over the coming months, Squash Canada will finalize activities, events and special promotions to celebrate both Canada and the sport of squash.  Initiatives will be designed to make it easy for Canadians to discover the energy and excitement of squash!  Squash Canada and its Provincial/Territorial Associations will work with member clubs across the country to organize events and activities that promote the ParticipACTION 150 Play List as we encourage Canadians to hit the courts and try squash.

The first confirmed special squash event for the year will be an official 150 Play List Tour Stop at the 2017 Canadian Squash Championships.  The ParticipACTION 150 Play List Crew has 100 tour stops planned across Canada, and squash will be a featured event!
