OTTAWA, ON, May 17, 2019 – The 2019 World Junior Squash Championships are fast approaching, and Canada is ready! From July 30th to August 9th, the best players from around the world will meet to battle it out at the National Squash Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Squash Canada is thrilled to announce the four talented, hard-working junior squash players that have been selected to the Canadian women’s team:

• Charlotte Orcutt
• Molly Chadwick
• Erica McGillicuddy
• Brianna Jefferson

Charlotte, Molly, and Brianna all represented Ontario at the 2019 Canada Winter Games, where they captured gold in the team event. With the addition of Erica, the four juniors now come together in representing Canada on the world stage at the World Junior Squash Championships.

Each member of the team has posted very impressive results over the last year. Charlotte has proven to be very dominant, winning her age category at the Canadian Junior Squash Championships from 2017 through 2019. Molly is following in the footsteps of her teammate, Charlotte, becoming a two-time Canadian Junior Champion herself. Brianna has accomplished a great deal over the past year, finishing 2nd at the Canadian Junior Squash Championships, and 3rd at Canadian Junior Open. Erica’s success extends outside of Canada, where she battled it out to win the silver medal in Girls U17 at the 2018 U.S. Junior Open Squash Championships.

“Representing Canada again on a world stage is a dream come true. This sport and this country mean everything to me—so having the opportunity to compete against the best players around the world is a challenge I’m so excited to take on,” said Charlotte Orcutt. “And playing on a team with girls that I have trained with forever —it doesn’t get any better than this!”
