Michael Mehl Tops Group of Canadians at British Junior Open

     

    Ottawa (ON) – Ten young Canadian athletes spent the New Year celebrating squash in Sheffield, England at the 2015 British Junior Open.  About 400 athletes from around to world participated in this year’s event, which is considered to be one of the top events on the junior squash circuit.

     

    Ottawa (ON) – Ten young Canadian athletes spent the New Year celebrating squash in Sheffield, England at the 2015 British Junior Open.  About 400 athletes from around to world participated in this year’s event, which is considered to be one of the top events on the junior squash circuit.

    Michael Mehl led the way for the Canadians, coming off his Canadian Junior Open win in Niagara in December. Mehl, 15, of Calgary, earned himself a berth in the Boys U17 quarter-finals, where he lost to eventual Champion Eain Yow Ng of Malaysia. Mehl continued on to finish 8th of the 64 competitors in his division.

    Lucia Bicknell of Vancouver and Salaheldin Eltorgman of Toronto each finished 13th in their respective Girls U13 and Boys U13 divisions.
