Following the Canadian Junior Open presented by Forthlane Partners, over 100 of Canada’s best young squash players are heading to the 2024 US Junior Open Squash Championships (USJO) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from December 14th to 17th to face off against opponents from every corner of the globe.
The tournament features 10 age categories — Boys Under-19, Under-17, Under-15, Under-13, Under-11, and Girls Under-19, Under-17, Under-15, Under-13, and Under-11 — and Canada will be represented in each event, with hopes of reaching the podium.
Top Canadians in the Girls U19 division are sisters, Ocean and Spring Ma (BC). Both represented Team Canada at the 2024 World Junior Team Championship where the women’s team finished with an historic bronze medal. Now both are freshman at Harvard and Yale respectively playing in the College Squash Association League.
Fresh off winning the U19 title at the 2024 Canadian Junior Open, Wasey Maqsood (ON) will lead the BU19 contingent along with teammate Faazil Khan (ON). Both represented Team Canada at the 2023 World Junior Squash Championship and have multiple national junior titles to their name.
Other notables include 2024 Canadian Junior Open champions Calder Murray (AB) in Boys U17 and Obie Ryding (ON) in Boys U13.
