Canadian Talent Shines at the 2024 Canadian Junior Open Presented by Forthlane 

After four days of competition featuring over 750 matches and participants from over 15 countries, the 2024 Forthlane Canadian Junior Open has concluded. Hosted at The Club at White Oaks and the new Jack Aylott Squash Centre at Ridley College, the event showcased over 350 athletes competing in boys’ and girls’ U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19 categories from December 7–10. 

At this year’s C.J.O. Canadian players were standouts with 32 Canadian athletes finishing in the top five of their respective age categories. Canadians secured an impressive 20 medals, including 6 of the 10 available Golds. Congratulations to Wing Kai Gladys Ho of British Columbia (GU19), Wasey Maqsood of Ontario (BU19), Salma Hassan of Quebec (GU17), Calder Murray of Alberta (BU17), and Obie Ryding (BU13) and Nolan Ryding (BU11) of Ontario for taking home the Gold. The event was enhanced by the inclusion of a Wheelchair Squash demonstration highlighting the sport’s inclusivity and a thrilling US College Squash Association (CSA) match between Western University and St. Lawrence, highlighting elite university squash. Squash Canada also launched the Road to the Podium campaign, an initiative with the purpose of ensuring that our national team is equipped with world-class resources necessary to compete and excel at the highest level, while also fostering the growing talent in communities around the country.
