In the Canada-Mexico match, Shahier Razik of Toronto defeated Cesar Salazar 11-8, 11-5, 11-1 but Erik Tepos tied it at 1-1 as he edged Andrew McDougall of Calgary 11-9, 5-11, 6-11, 13-11, 11-8.  DeLierre then took Eric Galvez in the deciding match 11-4, 11-7, 12-10.

‘’Shawn was solid all week,’’ said Canada’s head coach Yvon Provencal.  ‘’He only lost one match all week.’’

Canada, seeded seventh, enjoyed a strong start at the tournament going 3-0 in round robin play but was upset by the U.S., in the round of 16.  That loss seem to take the spring out of Canada’s step as it lost to Germany and South Africa in consolation play before bouncing back against the Mexicans.

‘’It was a disappointing week (overall),’’ said.  ‘’The loss to the U.S., really hurt.  We fell apart after that.’’

The next major event for the Canadian team is the Pan American Games this October in Mexico.
