“Behind every great player is a great coach” a saying that holds true for Canada’s junior squash athletes as Squash Canada confirms the 2018-19 coaching roster.
Earlier this year coaches Matt Serediak and Janet MacLeod led Canada’s contingent at the 2018 Junior Pan American Squash Championships where the rising young talent not only boasted some top performances but was awarded the Fair Play trophy. The leadership of Janet and Matt not only on the court but off, was a major contributing factor to the Canadian squad’s achievement.
Veteran national team coach, Jonathan Hill, returns as Canada’s National Junior Men’s Coach, while first Marci Sier has been appointed National Junior Women’s coach for the first time in her coaching career. Hill and Sier will serve as national junior coaches for a 2-year term.
Hill, currently coaching at the 2018 WSF World Junior Squash Championships rounds out the Junior Men’s leadership group with team manager Chris Hanebury by his side.
Equally important to the Junior program is the coaching staff that works with Canada’s juniors at marquee junior development opportunities. One such opportunity is the annual cross-border match up ‘Battle of the Border’ where Athlete Development Manager, Graeme Williams, will be joined by coaches Matt Easingwood, Melina Turk, Derek Moore, Marci Sier, and Chris Sachvie.
