Squash Canada announces the departure of Geoffrey Johnson, Chief Operating Officer as he leaves behind a positive and impactful legacy on the organization and the Canadian squash community.
Geoffrey joined the organization in October 2018 overseeing portfolios such as Coaching, Officiating, National Championships, Communications, Governance, Sport Safety, IDEA and more. His leadership in Sport Safety included managing the process for the organization to be compliant with Abuse-Free Sport as well as the implementation of education and training requirements for all squash participants related to safe sport and rules education. In addition, he established a Coaching Committee that led to major enhancements to the Coaching program, which included a new Coaching in Squash eLearning module, establishing a Coach Challenge Process and building Coach Developer capacity so that the NCCP could be delivered across the country.
“Geoffrey’s impact on Squash Canada cannot be understated. The organization has evolved significantly under his leadership, spurring growth across a wide array of portfolios. His professionalism, diverse skill set and dedication to the sport of squash will be missed as we strive to continue the excellent work over the past six years. Squash Canada sincerely thanks Geoffrey for his service to the community and wish him all the very best in his future endeavors.” – Jamie Nicholls, CEO
“I would like to thank Squash Canada as well as the entire Canadian squash community for the incredible opportunities and for the many friendships that I have made over the past six years. As I reflect on my time with the organization, it gives me great joy to know that we have accomplished so much together to make the sport of squash more safe, inclusive and fun for anyone that wants to be involved. I look forward to watching squash take its rightful place in the LA28 Olympic program and watching our Canadian athletes compete for a medal.” – Geoffrey Johnson, COO
