External Representatives

Squash Canada supports and encourages engagement by delegates and representatives to external organizations as a means to:

  1. Exercise leadership influence within international organizations so as to support sound governance, appropriate values-based decision-making and management, and best in class promotional, technical and sport development programming.
  2. Enhance the two-way flow of information and communication between organizations to which Squash Canada is a member.
  3. Provide professional development opportunities for leaders within the Canadian squash community, and which will benefit Canadian squash.

Ms. Gillen, proprietor of Lolly D. Gillen, Brokerage, has been in the real estate industry since 1976 specializing in residential real estate in the Greater Toronto area. She has been involved in the sport of squash for more than 30 years, both as a player and as a volunteer. Ms. Gillen is an accomplished squash player with 58 doubles titles; 22 Provincial/State, 29 Canadian, 2 US and 4 World Doubles titles. She has served on the boards of Squash Ontario (acting as President in 2007-2008), Sport4Ontario, Summit Golf & Country Club, and Squash Canada’s Board of Directors since 2009 as VP Operations, then serving as President from 2013 to 2018. In 2001, Lolly received Squash Ontario’s highest award (The Special Achievement Award), which is given to an individual who has worked on behalf of the game of squash and represents the ideals of volunteerism both in Ontario and on a national level. She also earned the Ontario Sports Award in 2003, which is Ontario’s highest award given to a volunteer in recognition of a distinguished contribution to the field of Amateur Sport. She was also inducted into the Ontario Jesters in 2008. In 2010, the US & Squash doubles community named the Can Am Cup women’s trophy the Gillen/Pierce Cup after Lolly Gillen (Canada) and Molly Pierce (US). Lolly has played on numerous winning Lapham Grant teams and was the Women’s Team Captain in 2012 when they once again captured the Crawford Cup; in addition to the Gillen/Pierce Trophy at the Can Am Cup (2012). In 2015, Lolly was inducted in the Cricket Club Squash Hall of Fame. Throughout her career, she has also played key roles in creating the Ontario Squash Hall of Fame, the Squash Ontario Charity Golf Tournament, the Canada Squash Hall of Fame and Heritage, spearheading the development of a Squash Canada doubles certification program and the creation of the North American Ranking program (for which she collected the results from every doubles tournament in the US and Canada since 2005) currently known as the Canadian Doubles Rankings, and founded the Road to Podium Campaign for Squash Canada, Canada’s first and most successful campaign directed solely for high performance which raised over $180 000 in just 7 months in 2014.

Lolly continues her steadfast dedication to the sport of squash on a daily basis and has taken on the role as Squash Canada’s representative to the World Squash Federation (WSF) and the Federación Panamericana de Squash (FPS). In 2019, Lolly was elected to the position of Secretary General of Federación Panamericana de Squash and also sits on the WSF Para-Squash Commission.
