To Members of the Ontario and Canadian Squash Communities,

It is with heartfelt regret that Squash Canada share news that Canada’s top ranked women’s player, Samantha Cornett, and her mother and President of Squash Ontario, Janice Lardner, sadly and tragically lost their father/husband, Jack Cornett, on October 16 as a result of a cycling accident.

Jack and Janice introduced Sam to squash at a young age, and while Jack had remained an active squash player and sports enthusiast, it was only earlier this year that he entered his first Canadian Squash Championship.  Dr. Jack Cornett was a renowned Canadian scientist, including as a professor and holder of the Canada Research Chair in Radiochemistry and Environmental Health at the University of Ottawa.

The Cornett and Lardner families are facing the most difficult of times.

Squash Canada and Squash Ontario have set up a Squash Community Condolence Message Board that will be delivered to the family.  If you wished to share your condolences, support, thoughts and prayers with Janice, Sam and sister Alex, you may do so by clicking HERE and adding your message.  We are sure that during this difficult time your kind words will be appreciated.
