Squash TV commercial to air nationally

Squash Canada is excited to announce that a 30-second national TV commercial has been distributed across the country to television networks large and small.  The promotional theme of the squash commercial is the 4F’s:  Fun, Fitness, Friendships and For All, to encourage viewers to think about playing squash.

Each of the English and French spots reflect diversity across the participants portrayed.  It ends with a call to action, to find a nearby court, being directed to squash.ca’s national court finder feature.

The English version can be viewed HERE.

The commercial has been structured as a Public Service Announcement designed to tap into Canadian television networks requirement that they provide a certain amount of their commercial inventory to ‘charitable’ causes for the common good, on a complimentary basis.  Squash has received recognition as such for its healthy benefits and Squash Canada has received what is called a Telecaster number to certify our commercial as a PSA, paving the way for its airings by networks at their discretion.

The commercial has been sent to every Canadian television station including national networks such as Bell Media, Rogers Media, CBC, Radio-Canada, Shaw, Global, Cogeco and Corus.  MediaPlus will also reach local stations and specialty channels like Sportsnet, TSN, RDS, TVA sports, CPAC, Weather Network, Meteomedia,  Super Channel, Maple Leaf Sports Hub, Anthem Sports Hub, Aboriginal Peoples Television Network and more.

Airing of the PSA will depend on available commercial inventory of each broadcaster.  Networks have been urged to play the spots now and through the winter months.

The good folks at the Queensview Ottawa Goodlife Fitness and Mayfair Toronto Lakeshore Club, and their capable squash pros, Heather Wallace and Manu Dutt, respectively, were kind enough to open their doors for two different video shoots to gather the required footage.  Thanks as well to the forty seven squash enthusiasts who came out and allowed us to capture on video the joy that squash gives them.

We hope this promotional effort will help raise the profile of our sport and positively impact participation levels.  For current squashers, we hope you’ll like seeing your chosen sport on TV.
