Squash Canada is excited to share some of our talented junior athletes will head to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario to compete in the 18th annual Battle of the Border against the Team USA contingent. The event will be held from August 1st to 4th at The Club at White Oaks.
Created in 2004, the Battle of the Border, has since created amazing opportunities for Canadian and American Junior players to compete internationally and gain experience in representing their country. The Battle consists of groups of eight athletes, four boys and four girls, in each of the U17, U15 and U13 categories.
“I am thrilled to represent Team Canada! Really looking forward to spending quality time with the coaches and my teammates and battling together to make Canada proud,” shared Arham Izhar, BU17 athlete.
“I am excited to support Team Canada in their quest for a win over Team USA at the Battle of the Border at White Oaks. This event is an extremely important athlete development opportunity for the Canadian juniors. It is a great training and competition environment and is the epitome of the sport, where we compete and then come together to enjoy the camaraderie of squash. From my own experience, this is one of those moments in a junior squash career that makes an athlete fall even more in love with the game!” says Samantha Cornett, Pan American gold medalist and Squash Canada’s Manager of Athlete Development.
Our Canadian team will face tough competition against Team USA, looking to recapture the Battle of the Border title for the first time since 2016. Join us in cheering on our junior athletes!
