Squash Canada Reveals Team for the 2024 Pan American Senior Squash Championships

The eight athletes competing in the 2024 FPS Pan American Senior Squash Championships in Lima, Peru, have been named. The tournament, which will take place from August 4 to 10, will see Nicole Bunyan, Hollie Naughton, Danielle Ray, and Nikki Todd competing in the women’s division while David Baillargeon, Dylan Deverill, Salah Eltorgman, and Connor Turk will represent Team Canada in the men’s division.

Naughton (Ontario), currently ranked #20 in the world and the reigning Canadian Champion, will be leading the women’s team this Pan American Championship. Bunyan (British Columbia) is #50 on the PSA Tour and the 2024 Canadian Squash Championship silver medalist. Todd (Saskatchewan) is the bronze medal winner of this year’s National Championship and is ranked 5th worldwide for women’s hardball doubles. Ray (Alberta) is a two-time National Champion and has been ranked as high as #18 in the world. These four athletes enter this event with ample experience in Pan American competition – they each have multiple Pan Am Championships and Pan Am Games medals to their names.

On the men’s side, Squash Canada proudly announces that Baillargeon (Quebec), presently world-ranked #42 and current Canadian National Championship winner, will compete for Team Canada. Eltorgman (Ontario) is a Senior National Squad member ranked #89 worldwide. Turk (Alberta) is PSA-ranked #152 and a finalist at this year’s Canadian National Championship. Deverill (Ontario) is the winner of the 2023 U.S. Intercollegiate Doubles Championships and will make his senior Team Canada debut at these Pan Am Championships.

The Canadian Team will be led by coaches Gene Turk (Manitoba) and Christopher Hanebury (Ontario), head coach for the Western Mustangs men’s squash team, who told Squash Canada: “It’s always a special occasion to represent Canada, and it’s an honour to be able to do so at the upcoming Pan Am Senior Championships. It’s going to be an exciting week of intense squash, and we’ll give it everything we’ve got for each point.”
