The Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club served as the premier stage for Canadian squash, hosting the Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital 2025 Canadian Senior Championships, May 8 – 11. More than 330 athletes aged 12 – 80 years athletes competed across 23 divisions in four days of high-level play and outstanding camaraderie and hospitality off the court.
In the Master’s divisions, familiar names continued to dominate, including Gerry Poulton (BC), who claimed the inaugural Men’s 80+ title, his ninth Canadian national title, while Julie Hisey (ON) captured her seventh title in the Women’s 55+, continuing a streak that began with Women’s 40+. Lolly Gillen (ON) claimed the first Women’s 70+ title since 2002, while BC swept the Men’s 50+ category highlighted by champion Rob Wilson (BC). Meanwhile, a new generation of Masters talent emerged, with first-time Canadian age category champions such as Jennifer Pelletier (Women’s 30+) and Dane Sharp (Men’s 40+). “It was an honour to welcome the Canadian squash community to the Toronto Cricket Club for a truly memorable iteration of the Canadian Junior & Senior Championships,” said Robin Clarke, Tournament Director. “It was incredible seeing players of all ages and skill levels on court giving it their all. This year’s event introduced new highlights, including the inaugural Canadian Wheelchair Doubles Squash Championship Invitational won by Jeff Harris (ON), and the Guilfoyle PSA Squash Classic 2025 which brought international flair, with titles going to Salman Khalil (EGY) and Toby Tse (HKG). The weekend also celebrated the 2025 Canadian Squash Hall of Fame inductees, Alana Miller, Marnie Baizley, Gordon Anderson, Clive Caldwell, and Steve Wren.
