The Sunshine Squash Club — the largest non-profit squash club in North America, created and operated by high school student-athletes — marked a landmark spring in 2026, with all three chapters active across Vancouver, Toronto, and Boston.
Vancouver: Six Years in the Making
On May 23, the Vancouver headquarters hosted its annual summer event, drawing 30 participants — one of the largest gatherings in club history — organized entirely by 12 student volunteers. Jacob Lin, club co-founder and Harvard varsity squash player, returned during his summer break to lead training sessions and coach younger members. Funds raised through the event and year-round fundraising totaled $1,000, donated in full to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. On May 27, co-founders Jacob Lin and Weihan Wang, joined by current student officers, completed the formal donation ceremony.
Toronto: A Debut to Remember
On June 6, the Toronto chapter held its inaugural Squash Social at the Glendon Squash Courts, York University. The event drew over 20 participants and sold out days in advance. Squash Canada CEO Jamie Nicholls attended in person, engaging directly with players and families. Proceeds were donated to Urban Squash Toronto in support of youth squash development across the city.
Boston: First Steps on a New Court
On May 3, the Boston chapter hosted its first student-organized squash outreach event, led by club co-founders Jacob Lin and Ocean Ma, marking another milestone in the Club’s cross-border expansion.
One Club, Three Cities, One Mission
Co-founded in Vancouver in 2020 by Jacob Lin, Ocean Ma, Spring Ma, and Weihan Wang, the Club has grown into the largest non-profit student squash organization in North America. Each chapter hosts at least four community events per year — all planned and executed by student-athletes united by their love of squash and commitment to giving back.
Vancouver Chapter recently donated $1,000 to Squash BC and $1,000 to Squash Canada. Since our founding in 2020, Sunshine Squash Club has contributed a total of $27,485 to squash communities and hospitals — a reflection of our commitment to giving back to the sport and the broader community we love.”
The Sunshine Squash Club would like to express its sincere gratitude to Squash Canada and Squash BC for their longstanding support and encouragement of youth squash development, community engagement, and squash promotion initiatives.
