New Board Members Elected at Squash Canada’s 2025 Annual General Meeting

Canadian squash leaders came together virtually on August 16th for Squash Canada’s 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM). At the AGM, the provincial and territorial associations elected Genevieve Knapp of Alberta and Julie Shin of British Columbia as new Directors, while re-electing Kimberley Watson of Alberta and Ryan Morris of New Brunswick to the Board of Directors.

Knapp is a long-time supporter of squash at both the provincial and national levels, having played a role in the 2024 Canadian National Championships at the Glencoe Club. With her professional background at AirSprint Private Aviation, a valued Squash Canada Partner, she brings valuable experience and as a mother of three former junior and current squash players, offers a unique passion and perspective to Squash Canada.

Shin, who operates a small business in Richmond, BC, is a former paralegal specializing in board resolutions. With a strong understanding of the Canadian junior squash system at both the grassroots and high-performance levels, she brings governance expertise to Squash Canada while representing the growing squash community in British Columbia.

Since joining the Board in 2022, Watson has been a key contributor as Chair of the Governance Committee and a valued asset through her involvement in Hardball Doubles, CANSquash, University Squash, and the reformed IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility) Committee. Morris, a lifelong competitor representing New Brunswick at every level of play, will continue to contribute nationally through his work on the Finance and Audit Committee and the Coaching Committee.

The AGM also marked the departure of Alan Fern Saskatchewan, whose steady leadership as Director-at-Large guided Squash Canada through challenging COVID-19 times and helped position the organization for growth.

With this mix of new and returning leadership, Squash Canada is well-positioned to continue growing membership and participation, as well as strengthening high-performance pathways, governance practices and promoting the sport for the upcoming season.
