A Canadian Masters Delegation travelled to the inaugural 2025 Meridian Pan Am Squash Masters Championships in Tortola, British Virgin Islands and finished the weekend with an impressive medal haul, earning two gold, two silver, and two bronze across multiple age divisions. Their collective success led to Canada being awarded the Pan American Meridian Cup, which is presented to the country with the highest point total throughout the event.
The podium was highlighted by Vanessa Steinwall (ON), Women’s 35+ Champion, and Kathryn Cowper (ON), Women’s 55+ Champion, along with silver medallists Lisa Pratt (ON) (Women’s 35+) and Joanne Maxwell (ON) (Women’s 55+). Rounding out Canada’s podium finishes were bronze medallists Alison Le Ber (ON) (Women’s 55+) and Wayne Pye (ON) (Men’s 65+).
“While squash is an individual sport, the team camaraderie at the PanAm Masters Championships is a unique experience that makes this tournament special,” said Vanessa Steinwall, Women’s 35+ Champion. “Representing Canada, competing against women from across the PanAm region, and supporting my teammates in such an electric and beautiful setting is an experience I’ll never forget.”
“It was great to represent Canada with the other athletes. I’ve been lucky enough to do this in past World Masters Games and the experience of sharing our sport with other nationalities who also love our game is exhilarating…” – Kathryn Cowper, Women’s 55+ Champion
Congratulations to all athletes who competed and proudly represented Canada throughout this landmark event. Squash Canada looks forward with excitement to future iterations of the Pan Am Squash Masters Championships and the continuation of master’s squash across the Americas.
