The national spotlight turns to Montreal this weekend as the 2026 Jesters Canadian University & College Championships presented by the City of Montreal, head to McGill University from January 23 – 25 for three days of postsecondary squash.
Building on last year’s impressive outcome, the Canadian University & College Championships are continuing their upward momentum in 2026. The 2026 tournament features 125 entrants, representing seven provinces and territories and more than 25 postsecondary institutions, surpassing all previous benchmarks. Moreover, the commitment to inclusivity and competitive opportunity remains as the championship offers four divisions (Open, A, B, and C).
“I am incredibly proud of how this tournament has taken off. To look at the draw and see such incredible participation from players all over the country coming to Montreal is amazing,” said Mohamed Kamal, Tournament Director and 2025 Men’s Open Champion “It’s going to be loud, it’s going to be competitive, and above all else, a memorable weekend. This is exactly the kind of atmosphere and future we hope to see for Canadian university and college squash.”
Spectators can expect to see several of the country’s top post-secondary squash athletes on court this weekend, including top seed and Squash Canada NextGen Squad member Niki Shemirani (University of Waterloo), former Canadian Squad athlete Cameron Seth (University of Waterloo), Lucia Bicknell (University of Alberta, formerly Stanford University), and Squash Canada NextGen Squad member and Team Quebec squad athlete Maximilien Godbout (Université du Québec à Montréal).
