Making history in Montréal, the 2026 Jesters Canadian University & College Championships presented by the City of Montréal became the largest University & College Championships in Squash Canada history, with 124 athletes representing more than 25 postsecondary institutions and seven provinces and territories.
In the Women’s Open, Niki Shemirani (University of Waterloo) lived up to her top-seed billing, navigating a deep draw to capture the national title. Emma Jinks (University of Prince Edward Island) upset the seedings and earned silver, while Lucia Bicknell (University of Alberta) claimed bronze.
Cameron Seth (University of Waterloo) completed a full-circle return, winning the Men’s Open title a decade after first claiming it in 2016. Daniel Deverill (Western University) finished second and Carl-Edmund Roux (McGill University) secured bronze in front of the home crowd.
Sophie Vandenbrink (Western University) and Glen Chamberlain (Carleton University) claimed the Women’s and Men’s A titles, while Queen’s University stood out with a Women’s B podium sweep led by Gabriella Menezes and a Men’s B victory from Jacob Badali. While Mairead Shaw (McGill University) and Omar Elaref (McMaster University) captured the Women’s and Men’s C titles.
