Ottawa (ON) – The 2014 Dunlop Canadian Junior Open wrapped up on Tuesday in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Over 250 participants represented 16 countries at the International Open event, with participants travelling from across Canada, the United States and South America, and even as far as Australia and New Zealand to compete.

Over 250 participants represented 16 countries at the International Open event, with participants travelling from across Canada, the United States and South America, and even as far as Australia and New Zealand to compete.
Canadian athletes won titles in four of the eight divisions, including a gold medal for defending Canadian Junior Boys Champion David Baillargeon of Quebec City in the Boys Under-19 division. Lucia Bicknell of Vancouver was the only Canadian female to claim top spot, winning gold in the Girls Under-13. Michael Mehl and Abdelrahman Dweek, both of the World Health Edgemont Club in Calgary, rounded out the Canadian winners in the Boys Under-17 and Boys Under-13 divisions.

The Canadian Junior Open is one of the first events each season and opens up the Junior Open Circuit. The US, British and Scottish Junior Opens will be held over the next month, featuring many of Canada’s top juniors in competition.
