With the latest update of the Professional Squash Associations (PSA) world rankings, Canadians continue to make their mark.
As of the February 1st rankings, four (4) Canadian women sit in the top 60 in the world. Reigning Canadian Women's Open champion, Hollie Naughton, leads the Canadian women with a career-best 38th. Close on her heels are Naughton's 2016 Women's World Team Championship teammates, Samanthan Cornett (#52), Danielle Letourneau (#54) and Nikki Todd (#59). Transition squad member, Nicole Bunyan continues to leapfrog up the standings, now at #75.
On the men's side, HP Squad member and reigning Canadian Men's Open champion, Andrew Schnell is the highest ranked Canadian, sitting at #64. Nick Sachvie continues to rise in PSA rankings, now ranked #84. Now the second highest Canadian male, Sachvie captured his first-ever PSA tournament win back in November (2016) and followed it up three tournaments later winning his second. Mike McCue keeps close tabs on Sachvie as he reaches a new personal best at #90.
Canadian squash players have stepped up in a big way on the PSA World Tour as of late and it's sure to continue — 2017 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Canadian squash!
