Dear FPS Member Nations, FPS ExCo, FPS Rules and Referees Committee, FPS Appointments Review Board and Fellow Referees:

Squash Canada congratulates Grant Currie of Calgary for being one of the first two Regional Referees appointed by the FPS (Pan American Federation). Craig Archer, chair of the FPS Rules & referees Committee, announced on January 27th, 2014:

Dear FPS Member Nations, FPS ExCo, FPS Rules and Referees Committee, FPS Appointments Review Board and Fellow Referees:

On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Pan-American Squash Federation (FPS ExCo) I am very proud to announce the appointment of the FPS’s first two Regional Referees:  Mr. Junio Costa (Brazil) and Mr. Grant Currie (Canada).  I warmly congratulate these two excellent referees for their achievement and wish them well for their future development as senior referees in this region.

I take this opportunity to remind all National level referees in the region (as well as those who are aspiring to achieve the National level referee designation) that the next step on your refereeing journey is to acquire “Regional Referee” status.  To facilitate this process the FPS has finalized its Regional Referee Programme (RRP), which has been  uploaded (in both English and Spanish) to the “Rules and Refereeing” section of the updated FPS website at  http://www.panamsquash.org

The RRP document is a working document that will evolve over time.  It is being reviewed periodically by the FPS R&RC to ensure it remains current and relevant to the needs of all certified referees living in the Pan-American region. Any queries about any of the officiating documents issued should be directed via e-mail to the FPS Rules Referees Committee and sent to both the undersigned at  craig.archer59@gmail.com  and to Mr. Grant Currie, in his capacity as Secretary of the R&RC at currieg@shaw.ca

Good luck to all the certified referees in the region as they continue their progression to FPS Regional Referee recognition, along a path that could ultimately lead to WSF Referee status.

     Sincerely,

    Craig Archer

This is certainly another feather in the cap of the Squash Canada Officiating certification program, which has produced many top referees over the past many years.  We are hopefully, Grant’s appointment will spur some other of our National Referees to achieve this designation, which is the last step before possible recognition as a World Squash Federation Referee.

    Our sincere congratulations, Grant!
