World Junior Squash Championships – Day 2 Results

    Windhoek (Namibia) – The Canadian team added three more wins to their results in the World Junior Individual Squash Championships, which began Sunday in Windhoek, Namibia. Though there were a few victories, each of the five Canadian junior men have been eliminated from the main draw, while the only female Canadian at the event, Madlen O'Connor, remains alive in the girls main draw.

Though there were a few victories, each of the five Canadian junior men have been eliminated from the main draw, while the only female Canadian at the event, Madlen O'Connor, remains alive in the girls main draw. 

    • Madlen O'Connor defeated Linea Wallsten of Sweden, 3-1 (7-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-7). O'Connor now faces Sabrina Sobhy, a 5/8 seed from the United States in the Round of 32 on Tuesday.
       
    • David Baillargeon lost his main draw match against David Ryan of Ireland 3-2 (11-8, 8-11, 14-12, 6-11, 11-3). He now faces Qaini Bonilla of Guatemala on Tuesday in the Special Plate.
       
    • Jarryd Osborne also lost out of the main draw, after a 3-0 loss to Tayyab Aslam of Pakistan (11-2, 11-7, 11-9). Next up, he takes on Velavan Senthilkumar from India tomorrow in the Special Plate.
       
    • Michael Thompson will also be competing in the Special Plate with his teammates, losing to Lucas Wirths from Germany 3-1 (13-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-9). Thompson will play Jami Aijanen of Finland on Tuesday.
       
    • Carter Robitaille won his first round Plate match vs the local Kyle Kriel of Namibia, 3-0 (11-2, 11-3, 11-4). He will compete against Nils Lindgren from Sweden in the second round tomorrow.
       
    • Michael Mehl also won his Plate match against Aubrey Lawrence of South Africa in a close 5-game match, 3-2 (9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8). His second round Plate match will be played tomorrow against Yannik Omlor of Germany).
