Four-Medal Haul for Team Canada at 2025 Pan American Senior Squash Championships

Team Canada delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 Pan American Senior Squash Championships in Rio de Janeiro, capturing the highest medal count of all 19 participating countries. With four podium finishes, including two golds, a silver and a bronze, Canada made its mark.

The first medal came from the women’s main individual draw, where five-time National Champion Hollie Naughton (ON) struck gold, defeating teammate and reigning Canadian Champion, Nicole Bunyan (BC), who earned silver. This marks back-to-back years of Pan American Championships with an all-Canadian final, following Danielle Ray (AB) and Bunyan’s showdown in Peru (2024).

In the women’s doubles, Naughton teamed up with Nikole Todd (ON), defeating Guatemala,USA, and Colombia without dropping a game to secure the gold. Todd’s strong play and sportsmanship also earned her the Fair Play Award, a recognition of excellence both on and off the court. Furthermore, the women’s team (Naughton, Bunyan, Todd, and Shemirani) rounded out the medal haul with 3/4 finish and a bronze medal, after a narrow 2–1 loss to Mexico in the semifinals.

On the men’s side, Karim Michael (QC) impressed with his Pan American debut, advancing to the final of the men’s individual companion event. Michael claimed silver after a hard-fought match against the USA.

Canada also showcased grit in the mixed doubles and men’s team events. Bunyan and Salah Eltorgman (ON) battled hard in the first round of the mixed doubles against the USA, pushing the match to the limit before ultimately falling short. Meanwhile, the men’s team (Salah Eltorgman, Karim Michael, Connor Turk, and Liam Marrison) fought hard through the early rounds before bowing out to a strong Peruvian team in the second round.
