MEN'S & WOMEN'S OPEN - QUALIFICATION ROUND  and MAIN DRAWS
As per the Canadian Squash Championship Open regulations, there will be a qualification round for the Men's & Women's Open division. The Open Qualification rounds will commence on Tuesday May 1st, and the Main Draw will start on Wednesday May 2nd.
 
The starting times for all qualifying and first-round matches will be made available to competitors a minimum of 5 days prior to the start of the event. The draws will be made public a minimum of 3 days prior to the commencement of the Championships.

REGULATIONS
Draw Format
A.  General
All categories of play will use a single elimination main draw with feed-in consolation except if there are 4 to 6 entries, in which case the format will be round-robin.  Events with less than four entrants may be combined with the next lower age category. 
 
B.  Open Event
Squash Canada has updated the regulations for the Men's and Women's Open events which changes the draw format for the events.

C.  Masters Events
All Masters categories of play will be conducted with a single elimination main draw featuring a feed-in consolation (including quarter final losers) and playoffs for 3rd/4th.
 

POLICIES


REFUND POLICY
Requests for refunds of entry fees will be handled by Squash Canada upon receipt of written notice. Refund requests will be treated in accordance with the following regulations:
  • Withdrawals prior and up to the entry deadline date will receive a full refund less a $5 processing fee.
  • Withdrawals from singles Championships after the entry deadline date until seedings are first published will receive a 50% refund.
  • Withdrawals from Doubles Championships after the entry deadline date until start times are first published will receive a 50% refund.
  • No refund will be given after the final seedings or draws are posted, except for medical reasons or bereavement. In these cases, medical notes or other documentation (e.g. doctor’s note, death notice, etc.) must be provided within 48 hours of the withdrawal for a refund to be considered. In these cases, when approved, a full refund less a $20 processing fee, will be issued. 
EYEGUARD POLICY
All juniors are required to wear eye guards as per Squash Canada’s policy:
“That only protective eyewear appearing on the Squash Canada list of acceptable eye guards meeting the ASTM designation F803 (Standard Specification for Eye Protectors for Use by Players of Racket Sports) shall be allowable at any Squash Canada sanctioned event where the use of protective eyewear is mandatory.”
 
All other competitors are advised, though not required, to wear eye guards when participating in Squash Canada Championships.
 
DRESS CODE
Competitors in national championships shall wear appropriate squash attire of any colour, provided it is not so conspicuous or brightly reflective as to distract the opponent.
 
Appropriate squash attire for men shall consist of a short-sleeve shirt, shorts, socks and playing shoes. Appropriate squash attire for women shall consist of a shirt worn with a skirt or shorts, or a dress, socks and playing shoes.
 
Any spandex or compression attire must be worn beneath outer clothing and must NOT be visible. The wearing of hats, other than religious headwear, is NOT permitted. Headbands and bandanas, which are designed to control perspiration, are permitted, provided they are not so conspicuous or brightly reflective as to distract or unsight an opponent and shall not be potentially dangerous. Cycling shorts, tank tops, boxing trunks, and the like are NOT considered to be appropriate squash attire. Other garments, such as part of all of a tracksuit, may be worn during play with the permission of the referee. Tracksuits may be worn during the warm-up.
 
In all matters of judgment or opinion arising from the interpretation of the clothing rule, the decision of the Tournament Referee shall be final.
 
If a host club maintains an "all-white" or any other restrictive clothing requirement, they must include this information as part of their application to host.

ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY POLICY
  1. The Open events are ‘closed’. Only Canadian citizens, landed immigrants or persons residing continuously in Canada during the one year prior to the commencement of the Championships are eligible to enter the Men and Women's Open events.
  2. All other events are ‘open’. These events are open to anyone of any nationality.
  3. All competitors must be members in good standing with their respective Provincial/Territorial Squash Association and/or Squash Canada, or the National Association of their residence. Notwithstanding a competitor may be a member in good standing with their respective Provincial/Territorial Squash Association and Squash Canada, or the National Association of their residence, where a competitor is subject to a sanction imposed by the Host Club, Squash Canada shall respect that sanction, including any sanction which may preclude the person from entering the premises and thus participating in the Championships, provided  the sanction was imposed using fair procedures. Specifically, the sanctioned person must have been informed by the Host Cub of the nature of the infraction and have been given an opportunity to provide information concerning the incident prior to the sanction being imposed.
  4. All competitors in respective age category events must have reached the age of the category that they have entered by the first day of the Championships.
 
 
CANADIA RANKINGS POLICY REGARDING WITHDRAWALS AND DEFAULTS
 
DEFAULTS:   
Any player who defaults from a match or fails to show up for a match once tournament play has begun, will lose points to their opponent.  The player who defaults from a match or fails to show for a match will automatically lose 12 points in the rankings.  Their opponent will gain 12 points for the default or no show.  A player who defaults multiple times in the same event will receive 12-point deduction for every match defaulted in the event. 
 
NOTE: A player may appeal their default by submitting a doctor’s note to Squash Canada (by either Fax or via scanned email) by no later than 7 days after the conclusion of the event. Only at the discretion of Squash Canada can a defaulted player have their 12 points reinstated.
 
WITHDRAWALS:
Any player who must withdraw from a tournament (with a legitimate reason) after the draw has been made will not lose points in the ranking system or will have points credited back provided he/she provides proper documentation to Squash Canada.  If a player withdraws due to injury he/she must provide a doctor’s note to Squash Canada (see above). 
 
Squash Canada considers a legitimate reason for withdrawing from a match/ event to be one of the following only:  family emergency, illness, injury or accident.  Squash Canada will not credit a players lost points for any other reason.  It is the player’s responsibility to inform Squash Canada as to the reason why they are requesting a credit for any points lost.  It will be Squash Canada’s decision to credit points back to the player or not.  A player must notify Squash Canada in writing within 7 days after the conclusion of the event. 
 
For the Canadian Squash Championships, Squash Canada reserves the right to refuse future entries in cases where a pattern of defaults and/or withdrawals are evidenced.

The closest Canadian International airport is Calgary International Airport (YYC) which is approximately 19km from the host hotel.
The host are not responsible for making ground transportation arrangements to and from the airport.  Ground transportation can be arranged by an airport shuttle service, train service or taxi.
