Squash Canada, in collaboration with its Provincial/Territorial partners and coaching community, is pleased to announce its National Squads for the 2023-24 season.
“Squash Canada would not exist without this keen group of athletes looking to make their mark on the national and international stage,” says Samantha Cornett, Manager of Athlete Development. “We look forward to supporting these athletes as they compete and embody Squash Canada’s vision of being a world-leading squash nation through the 2023-24 season and beyond.”
The squads are a key pillar in Squash Canada’s rebuilding of our athlete development infrastructure as we look to maintain and expand our status as a world-leading nation over the next decade. These programs will provide a critical pathway and support system for aspiring juniors and recent graduates as they develop into PSA players that will one day wear the Maple Leaf and represent Canada as National Senior Squad athletes. Squads receive supportive programming from Squash Canada to assist with their national, international, and professional squash endeavours.
This squad is experienced and keen to take on international competition. Junior National Squad athletes will be looking towards the upcoming Canadian Junior Open, U.S. Junior Open, and British Junior Open, and subsequent National Junior Circuit and international events, culminating in the World Junior Championships next summer. Meanwhile, NextGen National Squad athletes will be targeting College and University squash results as well as PSA Satellites and Challenger events. Senior National Squad members are taking on the world at the top level of the game in PSA Challenger and PSA World Tour events, with eyes on the upcoming Men’s World Team Championships and next year’s Pan Am Championships, Women’s World Team Championships, and future major Games.
“Happy to be named onto the National Team,” said Hollie Naughton, four-time National Champion. “It still gives me the same honour and pride as it did all those years back been named to my first junior squad. Cannot wait for the upcoming year with the Team and to see what we can all do individually and collectively at the upcoming team events! Go Canada!”
Congratulations to the selected athletes! We look forward to following your progress this season. Please join us in congratulating the following Squash Canada National Squad athletes:
