2026 Call For Nominations to the Board Of Directors Of Squash Canada

    DEADLINE – 19 June, 2026, 11:59 EST  

    Squash Canada is a non-profit, national sport association responsible, in collaboration with its partner Provincial/Territorial squash associations (PTs), for the development of athletes, coaches and officials. Founded in 1915, Squash Canada establishes rules, standards and national programs to promote the growth and development of the sport across the country. 

    Squash Canada is recognized by the Government of Canada as the sole national sport governing body for squash in Canada. Squash Canada is a proud member of the Canadian Olympic Committee, Commonwealth Games Canada, and Pan American and World Squash Federations. Squash Canada participates in the Pan American Championships, Commonwealth and Pan Am Games, as well as the World Team Championships at the junior and senior levels. 

    Squash Canada is seeking interested, qualified candidates that embody these values and share our mission to help lead the organization. Per the Squash Canada Bylaws (section 4.0) the following roles are required to be filled: 

    • 3 Directors will be elected for a 3-year term (2026-2029)

    In accordance with requirements by the Sport Canada Universal Governance Code implemented into the Squash Canada Bylaws, the Board shall be constituted in a manner such that no gender accounts for more than 60% or less than 40% of the total number of Directors. Due to Squash Canada’s current board composition, a minimum of 1 incoming directors must identify as a woman or man.  

    The Nominating Committee is also seeking nominations who can strengthen the following areas of skill and expertise to the Board of Directors of Squash Canada: 

    • Information Technology / Data Management  
    • Finance / Professional designation  
    • Marketing, Communications, PR in a digital world 
    • Risk Management 
    • Governance Relations and Public Policy 
    • Philanthropy and Fundraising 

    Persons interested in being considered should complete the nomination process outlined below and ensure they meet all eligibility criteria.   

    Eligibility Criteria 

    A nominee must meet all the below criteria: 

    • Be 18 years of age or older,  
    • Has the power under law to contract, 
    • Has not been declared incapable by a court in Canada or in another country,  
    • Does not have the status of bankrupt,  
    • Is Independent,  
    • Satisfies the requirements of the Income Tax Act in relation to the eligibility to serve as a director of a registered charity,  
    • Be a member in good standing of their Provincial or Territorial Squash Association and that Association must be a member in good standing with Squash Canada; 
    • Is not subject to a disciplinary investigation or action by Squash Canada, or if subject to disciplinary action previously, has fulfilled all terms and conditions of such disciplinary action to the satisfaction of the Squash Canada. 
    • Agree to the Squash Canada Governance Manual and all areas within this 

    Desired Skills for Squash Canada Board of Directors 

    Potential candidates for the Board of Directors of Squash Canada should possess more than one of the specific skills. 

    1. CEO of a Significant Corporation or a Top Executive or Leader 
    2. Corporate Governance  
    3. Legal  
    4. Finance / Professional Delegation  
    5. Risk Management, Oversight  
    6. High Performance Sport – Athlete, Coach, Sport Science etc.   
    7. Governance Relations and Public Policy 
    8. Marketing, Communications, PR in a digital world  
    9. Philanthropy and Fundraising  
    10. Talent/People Management  
    11. Business Transformation and Revenue Generation  
    12. Information Technology / Data Management  
    13. Not-for-Profit / Charitable Organizations  
    14. Athlete experience (in the past 8 years)  
    15. International Sport 

    Nomination Process 

    • Nominations must be received no later than 11:59 pm ET on June 19 to the attention of Jamie Nicholls, CEO by email to; info@squash.ca  
    • The nomination must include all of the following information: 
    • A completed Squash Canada Nomination Form, a copy of which can be found HERE; 
    • A resume outlining the nominees qualifications, successes, and work and volunteer history 
    • Support letter and verification of membership from a Provincial/Territorial Member; 
    • A written letter of recommendation be provided by someone that has known the candidate for at least 5 years and can attest to their professional experience and skills. 
    • Elections will take place at the Squash Canada Annual General Meeting to be held in person at White Oaks July 25, 2026.
