After three decades the Canadian Junior Open (CJO) has grown to be a premier event on the national calendar, offering Canadian players a rare opportunity to compete against international competition home soil.
The 2026 Canadian Junior Open will return to Niagara-on-the-Lake from December 12 – 15. Hosted at the Mark Sachvie Squash Centre at White Oaks Resort & Spa, with additional matches at the Jack Aylott Centre at Ridley College. “The Canadian Junior Open plays a critical role in the development pathway for our athletes,” said Squash Canada CEO, Jamie Nicholls.
“For 30 years, it has provided our juniors with the opportunity to test themselves against many of the best young players in the world. Reaching this milestone is a testament to the strength of the event and Mark’s vision, and we’re excited to celebrate that legacy in December.”
The tournament was established in 1996 by Mark Sachvie, then Racquets Director at White Oaks Resort & Spa, who believed in the importance of exposing Canadian juniors to international competition. His vision, to create an event that would challenge and inspire young athletes, has since contributed to the development of countless Canadian squash players.
“It’s incredible to see the Canadian Junior Open still going strong after 30 years. My father started this event three decades ago, so being connected to it gives me a tremendous sense of pride,” shared Nicholas Sachvie, Mark’s son and current racquet professional at White Oaks.
“I’ve always been proud of what he built within the sport of squash, and that the Canadian Junior Open has become a staple international event.”
Led by tournament directors Matt Easingwood and Nicholas Sachvie, the White Oaks experience is second to none, with world-class facilities and an experienced and enthusiastic volunteer team. White Oaks Resort & Spa is Ontario’s first Canada Select Five Star and CAA Four Diamond resort, and offers the all-in-one convenience of three restaurants, a world-class spa, and a state-of-the-art fitness and racquet club.
Complementing the primary venue will be Ridley College’s Jack Aylott Centre, which features four stunning glass-back courts, along with the three-wall glass exhibition Caldwell Court.
