OTTAWA (ON) – The Canadian Men's Squash Team won the Silver Medal in the Men's Team Squash Event losing 2-1 to host nation Mexico. Shawn Delierre of Montreal lost a tough 4 game match (9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 14-12) against Cesar Salazar of Mexico. Canada's #1 player Shahier Razik of Toronto defeated Mexico's Arturo Salazar (8 -11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-3) to level the match 1-all.

Shawn Delierre of Montreal lost a tough 4 game match (9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 14-12) against Cesar Salazar of Mexico. Canada's #1 player Shahier Razik of Toronto defeated Mexico's Arturo Salazar (8 -11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-3) to level the match 1-all. Andrew Schnell a 19 year old from Calgary took on Mexican counterpart Eric Galvez ranked 75 in the world in the deciding match, losing to the more experienced Mexican (11-5, 11-1, 11-3).
Earlier today, the Canadian Women's Squash Team captured the Gold Medal in the Women's Team Squash Event today after defeating Colombia (2 – 0). Samantha Cornett of Deep River, Ontario got the Canadian Team off to a great start with a (9-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-2) victory over Catalina Pelaez. Canada's #1 player, Miranda Ranieri of Waterloo, ON sealed the win for Canada with a (10-12, 11-8, 11-8, 11-7) win over Colombia's #1 player Silvia Angulo.
The six person Canadian squash team capped off a great Pan Am Games winning a total of 6 medals: 1 Gold Medal in the Women's Team, a Silver Medal in the Men's Team Event, Samantha Cornett (Silver Medal in Women's Singles), Miranda Ranieri (Bronze Medal in Women's Singles), Shawn Delierre (Bronze Medal in Men's Singles) and Miranda Ranieri and Stephanie Edmison (Bronze Medal in Women's Doubles).
The Gold Medal winning Canadian Women's Team is comprised of Miranda Ranieri (Waterloo, ON), Samantha Cornett (Deep River, ON), Stephanie Edmison (Toronto, ON) and Women's National Coach Shauna Flath (Vancouver, BC). The Silver Medal winning Canadian Men's Team is comprised of Shahier Razik (Toronto, ON), Shawn Delierre (Montreal, QC) and Andrew Schnell (Calgary, AB) and Men's National Coach Yvon Provencal (Montreal, QC)
