Lone Canadian, Shawn De Lierre, enters the Qualifying Round of the 2016 PSA Men’s World Championships with an 11th place seed. The qualifying round opens today (Tuesday October 25), where De Lierre will face Ahmed Hussein of Egypt. With a win he would move on to the final round of the qualifier to face the winner of the Chi Him Wong (HKG) vs. Addeen Idrakie (MAS) match.

De Lierre, a HP Squad Member of Squash Canada’s National Team Program, qualified for the main round of the 2015 PSA Men’s World Championship after winning his qualifying matches against Babatunde Ajagbe (3-0) and Shehab Essam (3-1). Facing world-ranked #20 Mohamed Abouelghar of Egypt in the first round, De Lierre battled hard but ultimately lost the match 1-3, ending his run for the 2015 title.
