Squash Canada is pleased to announce the selection criteria that will be used for selection of Canadian teams to major international junior events in 2019 and 2020.
In the home stretch of an arduous two-year selection process, a Junior Women Team Trials has been confirmed for May 9-12, 2019 at the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club in Toronto, Ontario. This is the last and final step for players still in contention for selection to the last two spots on the Canadian Team that will represent at the 2019 World Junior Women Team Championships to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 5-9, 2019. The 2019 World Junior Championships features three events in one: the World Junior Women Team Championships, as well as the World Junior Individual Championships for Junior Women and Junior Men. Canada is entitled to enter 6 Junior Women and 6 Junior Men in these individual events. The selection criteria that will be used to select the Individual players, on a self-funded basis, can be viewed HERE.
For the first time since the inception of the event, the Pan American Junior Championships will be hosted by Squash Canada, June 16-22, 2019 at the Mayfair Lakeshore Club in Toronto, Ontario. Top Canadian juniors will have the opportunity to compete on home soil in front of a large number of supporters. The 2019 Pan American Junior Championship selection criteria can be viewed HERE.
Squash Canada is pleased to announce that coaches Jonathan Hill of Calgary, Alberta and Janet MacLeod of New Minas, Nova Scotia will lead the Canadian Teams into both the 2019 Pan Am and World Championships.
In 2020, the World Squash Federation will stage the World Junior Men Team Championships in Gold Coast, Australia from July 25-29. Squash Canada has moved to a one-year selection process. The process will consist of participation in two (2) Mandatory Designated Selection Events, up to four (4) Additional Designated Selection Events, and Additional Tournament Exposures.
