Squash Canada Unveils Wall of Fame

    Toronto (ON) – Squash Canada unveiled their brand new Wall of Fame this past weekend at the SHOP.CA 2015 Canadian Squash Championships. The Wall of Fame celebrates the contributions to the sport from various Players, Builders, Coaches, and Officials, as well as the Platinum President’s Award. Numerous banners were hung from the rafters of the National Squash Academy, showcasing the current members of the Wall of Fame to the squash community.

The Wall of Fame celebrates the contributions to the sport from various Players, Builders, Coaches, and Officials, as well as the Platinum President’s Award. Numerous banners were hung from the rafters of the National Squash Academy, showcasing the current members of the Wall of Fame to the squash community.

    The Wall of Fame has been active since 1983, when Harald A.R. was first inducted. Squash Canada wanted to recognize the inductees by having banners hung from the rafters of the National Squash Academy in Toronto. An interactive booth was set up at the SHOP.CA 2015 Canadian Squash Championships that allowed the participants, fans, and any visitors to check out the history of squash in Canada.

    Wall of Fame inductees were in attendance at the National Squash Academy. 2010 inductees present for the Wall of Fame celebration included Barry Faguy, Anne Smith, Gary Waite and on behalf of Stuart Dixon, Gerry Poulton.  2014 inductees Penny Glover, Yvon Provençal, Graham Ryding and the family of the late Mark Sachvie were all present to be a part of the festivities. 2010 Platinum President’s Award winner Jonathon Power was also honoured as a Wall of Fame member. The Platinum President’s Award is an award that recognizes elite individuals and their unparalleled contribution to squash globally.
