The Pan-Am Federation has officially announced the rescheduling of the 2021 Pan-Am U23 Championships from March 2021 to May 16th – 22nd in El Salvador. The event is geared towards U23 female and male national level athletes and in addition to having Pan Am U23 titles on the line, the Championships will also decide which countries earn a berth in the Pan Am Youth Games (multi-sport) September 7th – 16th, 2021 in Cali, Colombia. Updated selection criteria (CLICK HERE) is now available and expression of interest deadline has been extended to February 19th, 2021.
It is still recognized that we are still in the midst of a pandemic and there remain many questions surrounding travel to and participation in an international competition as well as concerns for adequate athlete preparation. As such Squash Canada will prioritize the health and safety of athletes and support staff when making a final determination on attending the championships. However, conditional planning such as this call for interest and selection policy are required should the COVID-19 circumstances significantly improve to ensure Canada’s participation in the event.
