The 2021 Canadian Junior Open has concluded and marked a successful return of international squash to Canada. This prestigious event was once again hosted by The Club at White Oaks in Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON where 218 athletes competed over four days (December 11-14) in 428 high-intensity matches.
It was a very successful event for our Canadian players, with 30 Canadians finishing in the top five of their respective age categories and making the host nation proud. Canadians acquired a total of 16 medals and claimed three out of the eight possible Gold Medals. Congratulations to Hermione Cao (BC), Niki Shemirani (ON) and Syan Singh (ON) for winning Gold. In addition, Squash Canada hosted the inaugural U23 PSA Satellite event, sponsored by Rouge River Brewing that took place on the new Squash Canada Power Glass Show Court. The event was well received by the athletes as a way for them to gain high performance competition and an opportunity to gain valuable points towards their PSA ranking. Congratulations to George Crowne (ON) and Brooke Herring (BC) for capturing the U23 titles.
