Canadian Men’s Open Returns to Bow Valley Square in Calgary February 13th – 17th

World-class Squash and the Power Court return to Bow Valley Square in Calgary, February 13th – 17th, with the 2023 Oxford Properties Canadian Men’s Open presented by AirSprint Private Aviation and Expression Networks BVAC Women’s Open. Building on the success of the inaugural 2022 Bow Valley glass court event, the Canadian Men’s Open will return in 2023 as a $55k (USD) PSA bronze tour event, featuring five of the Top 20 PSA male players in the world. Additionally, Calgarian and Canadian star Danielle Letourneau will make her return from injury in the companion $12k (USD) PSA Challenger event designed to give our rising domestic females valuable international experience.

The Men’s draw is loaded with depth and talent, featuring top seeds World Ranked (WR) #10 Victor Crouin (France), #11 Joel Makin (Wales), #13 Nicolas Mueller (Switzerland), #14 Miguel Rodriguez (Colombia), and #20 Raphael Kandra (Germany). Canada will be represented by Canadian #1 David Baillargeon with a new career high world ranking of #56, Canadian #2 Nick Sachvie, and Bow Valley Athletic Club Head Professional Connor Turk as the wildcard. Also lurking in the draw is defending Champion Nick Wall (England), USA stars Shahjahan Khan, Todd Harrity and Andrew Douglas, and former WR #17 Cesar Salazar from Mexico. A remarkable 15 nations will be represented with 14 athletes currently ranked within the world’s Top 50.

The Women’s draw will be headlined by local hero and former world #18 Danielle Letourneau who plans to make her return from injury in front of her home crowd of Calgary. Letourneau will be joined as a Top 4 seed by Senior National Squad teammate and WR #42 Nicole Bunyan of British Columbia, who is fresh from helping Canada secure a 7th place finish at the 2022 World Women’s Team Championships. The Canadians are scheduled to meet the French duo #46 Enora Villard and #54 Marie Stephan in the semifinals. Canadian NextGen Squad members Hannah Blatt, Niki Shemirani, Catherine Giachino, and Hannah Guthrie will also get a chance test their mettle in this valuable opportunity to compete on home soil.
