Top Seed Mohamed Elshorbagy Claims the 2025 AirSprint Private Aviation Canadian Men’s Open Title

World No. 8 Mohamed ElShorbagy of England showcased his champion mentality by defeating Mexico’s, Leonel Cardenas, in straight games to conclude the AirSprint Private Aviation Canadian Men’s Open 2025. During his campaign, ElShorbagy spent considerably less time on court compared to Cardenas to finally subdue the rising Mexican star in 36 minutes to claim his first Canadian Open trophy and his 51st career title.

The final marked the climax of an exceptional week of squash on the all-glass Jonathon Power Court at the stunning Bow Valley Square. Enthusiastic crowds and onlookers were captivated by the remarkable skill and athleticism on display from start to finish. Standout moments included Cardenas overcoming Victor Crouin (FRA) in 105 minutes to reach the finals, an all-Swiss quarter final battle between Dimitri Steinmann and Yannick Wilhelmi, and a dramatic comeback from former World No. 3, Omar Mosaad (EGY), who rallied from 0 – 2 down to defeat Charlie Lee (ENG)

Since its revival in 2022, the Canadian Men’s Open has grown in prestige, thanks to the unwavering support of AirSprint Private Aviation and the Bow Valley Athletic Club. Contributions from the Government of Canada and Tourism Calgary have further solidified the event’s status as a premier stop on the PSA World Tour. Squash Canada extends its gratitude to presenting partner AirSprint Private Aviation, along with all our gold, silver, and bronze partners, as well as the many patrons who made this event a success.

The all-glass Jonathon Power Court now heads to Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club for the Connor, Clark, & Lunn Private Capital 2025 Canadian Junior & Senior Championships, May 1 – 4 and 8 – 11. Before becoming the main attraction inside Brookfield Place once again for the 2025 Canadian Women’s Open, October 25 – 30, 2025.
