Canada Falls to USA in 19th Annual Battle of the Border Event

Twenty-four Canadian Junior athletes proudly represented the maple leaf in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the 19th Annual Battle of the Border against Team USA. Hosted from August 7 – 10 at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center, the competition featured joint training sessions, spirited reverse battles, and plenty of high-level squash. In the end, Team USA claimed the overall victory with a 15 – 9 score.

The Battle of the Border, created in 2004, has consistently provided incredible opportunities for Canadian and American junior players to compete internationally and gain invaluable experience representing their countries. The Battle consists of groups of eight athletes, four boys and four girls, in each of the U17, U15, and U13 categories.

“It was an incredible weekend of competition and fun both on and off the court,” said Squash Canada’s Director of Athlete Development, Samantha Cornett. “I was thrilled to see the intensity and fire that Team Canada brought to every encounter. We are getting closer to bringing the Battle trophy back to Canada!”
