The World Squash Junior Championships have not been held on Canadian soil since the early 1980s when Ottawa welcomed the inaugural Junior Women’s Championship (1981), and Calgary hosted the Junior Men’s Championships (1984).

More than forty years later, the tournament returns to Canada and Squash Canada is proud to announce the eight athletes who will wear the Maple Leaf beginning July 20th, when competition gets underway at White Oaks Resort and Spa and Ridley College.

Joelle Kim (BC) and Calder Murray (AB) return, having already competed on the World Juniors stage. Joining them for the first time are Anderson Brown (BC), Colten McLaughlin (ON), Gladys Ho (BC), Sasha Lee (ON), Veera Dhaliwal (BC), and Yusuf Matti Alverez (BC).

Guiding the team through what promises to be an unforgettable two weeks are coaches Jonathan Hill and Marci Sier.

“Bringing the World Squash Junior Championships back to Canada is something our entire community has been looking forward to,” said Jamie Nicholls, CEO of Squash Canada. “These are exceptional young athletes, and the opportunity to watch them compete at this level, in front of Canadian fans, will be truly unforgettable. As we enter our Olympic era, the spotlight will shine even brighter on the future stars of our sport.”

As competition runs July 20 – 31, fans can follow live updates, results, and behind-the-scenes content via @SquashCanada and @WorldSquash.

With later-stage matches expected to draw crowds, tickets for the Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, and Finals are available now, while select days throughout the tournament remain free to attend.
