Canadians proved they had want it takes to take home the hardware as a total of 30 Canadians walked away from the court with a gold medal around their neck as the 2016 Americas Masters Games wrapped up over the weekend.
The gold medal breakdown:
- 16 Canadians walked away with Gold at the Americas Masters Games in the Singles events;
- 4 Canadian duos captured the gold in the Mixed Doubles events; and
- Canadians won both the Under-50 and 50-Plus Team events

Held in Vancouver, BC, the 2016 Americas Masters Games was the first Masters Games held in the Pan-American region. The 9-day event featured 20 different sports and was open to competitors from around world who meet the minimum age requirement of 30 years. Designed to complement the World Masters Games, the 2016 Americas Masters Games provided participants the opportunity to strive towards sporting success while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
Among great competition and a fantastic showing by Canadian squash players, athletes were treated to a truly unique multi-sports event atmosphere that included the 2010 Olympic Games torch being lit at the official opening ceremony.
