Ottawa (ON) – Over the past two weekends a group of Junior Squash Players represented Canada at two Junior Open tournaments in Europe. The Pioneer Junior Open was hosted in Kὂln, Germany from July 3 -7, 2014 while the Dutch Junior Open was hosted in Amsterdam, Netherlands from July 10 – 13, 2014.
Ottawa (ON) – Over the past two weekends a group of Junior Squash Players represented Canada at two Junior Open tournaments in Europe. The Pioneer Junior Open was hosted in Kὂln, Germany from July 3 -7, 2014 while the Dutch Junior Open was hosted in Amsterdam, Netherlands from July 10 – 13, 2014.
Chloe Chemtob of Quebec took home a gold medal at each tournament in the Girls Under 17 Category. Currently ranked as Canada’s number #3 female junior, Chloe defeated Harshit Jawanda of India in 4 games, losing the first 5-11 and winning the next three 11-2, 11-6, 12-10 at the Pioneer Open Finals. The following weekend she went on to defeat Amelia Henly of England at the Dutch Junior Open Finals. Chloe won the match in the 5th game 11-7.
While Chloe was the only junior to take home a gold medal in the tournaments other Canadian Juniors finished on the podium. Alyssa Mehta finished 3rd in the Pioneer Open Girls U19 Category. Her sister Sophie Mehta finished 3rd in the Girls U17 at the Dutch Junior Open along with Akasham Rajagopaul finishing 3rd in the Boys U15.
