The Ontario team of David Sly, Bruce Marrison, Frank Brillinger, Rudy Goodridge, Nicole Garon, Lisa Coates, Elka Markus all went undefeated in pool play, with only two of the members dropping a match in the playoff round. This strong play allowed Ontario to claim their third straight title, and fourth in 5 years with a commanding win over Alberta, 6-1 in the final.
Hosts Quebec also repeated, claiming their second straight bronze with their Sunday win over Manitoba 4-3. There were few surprises throughout the weekend, as the teams all finished in the position of their seeds, with the exception of Saskatchewan and British Columbia, who swapped spots for Saskatchewan to finish in 6th.
The Masters Team Championship is played amongst provincial/territorial teams of four men and three women, representing various Masters age categories. While some of the countries best participate, the event is popular also due to its close-knit comradery and fun nature. Next year’s event will be hosted at The Club at White Oaks in Niagara.
