World Junior Individual Squash Championships – Day 4 Results

    Windhoek (Namibia) – Four Canadians started the day in action at the World Junior Squash Championships in Windhoek, Namibia, and only one moves on to tomorrow's matches.

    David Baillargeon won his morning Plate match over 5/8 seed and 2013 Canadian Junior Open Champion, Lyell Fuller of England. Baillargeon bested Fuller in 3 games, 11-9, 11-3, 11-6. David then moved on to face Roee Avraham of Israel in the evening session, and again put up a 3-0 win with scores of 11-2, 11-8, 11-7. This win puts Baillargeon into the Special Plate semi-finals, which he will play tomorrow against Spain's Bernat Jaume.

    Carter Robitaille also put up a win for Canada this morning, beating Zimbabwe's Bryn Turk, 11-3, 11-3, 11-2. Robitaille then faced Daniel Poleshchuk, a 5/8 seed from Israel, and lost the match 3-0 (11-6, 11-3, 11-6). 

    Also in action today were Michael Mehl and Maddie O'Connor. Mehl lost 3-2 to James Peach of England (9-11, 8-11, 11-3, 11-9, 11-6). O'Connor also lost in the junior women's draw, 3-0 to Jessica Davis of England (11-9, 11-6, 12-10). It was a great first showing for our youngerst competitors, who close their first World's experience. Both are eligible to participate for Team Canada at the next Junior Worlds events.
