Squash Canada Announces 2024 World Squash Federation (WSF) World Junior Championships Team

Squash Canada has unveiled the highly anticipated team that will represent our nation at the prestigious 2024 World Squash Federation (WSF) World Junior Championships in Houston, USA. The event will be held from July 12 to 23, 2024 and will consist of Men’s and Women’s Individual and Team competitions. The athletes below will compete in the Individual Championships. 

Junior Women 

  • Hermione Cao (BC) 
  • Joelle Kim (BC) 
  • Maria Min (BC) 
  • Ocean Ma (BC) 
  • Spring Ma (BC) 
  • Tsz Ling Alyssa Ho (AB) 

Junior Men 

  • Ewan Harris (ON) 
  • Faazil Khan (ON) 
  • Jacob Lin (BC) 
  • Sam Boulanger (AB) 
  • Wasey Maqsood (ON) 
  • Youssef Sarhan (QC) 

Hermione Cao, Maria Min, Ocean Ma, and Spring Ma will represent Canada in the Women’s Team Championships, along Ewan Harris, Faazil Khan, Wasey Maqsood and Youssef Sarhan who will be playing for Canada in the Men’s Team Championships. 

Team Canada will be led by coaches Jonathan Hill (AB), Victoria Lust (BC), and Chris Sachvie (ON). 

I am really excited to be representing Team Canada at my third and final World Junior Championships this year,” said Maria Min, GU19 Gold medalist of the 2024 Canadian Junior Closed Championships. “I am motivated to win not just for myself, but for my country and my squash community. Competing in this tournament will be the perfect finish to my junior career and I am looking forward to experiencing this with my amazing coaches and teammates. Go Canada! 

“It is a great honour to represent Canada at the World Junior Championships this summer,” shared Jonathan Hill, long time Junior National Coach. “We have a very strong contingent of our top Canadian junior women and men who all have a great deal of international experience. They have worked very hard this past season to earn their placements by competing in National Junior Circuit events across the country. We will bring the athletes together in Houston for a few days of preparation and, alongside Vicky Lust and Chris Sachvie, we will be looking for some strong individual and team performances from this group of Canadians. I look forward to working with all the players and helping to make this experience a memorable one for everyone on and off the court.”  

Wasey Maqsood, Boys U19 Gold medalist of the 2024 Canadian Junior Closed Championships, and returning to the World Junior Championships for the second year in a row, told Squash Canada: “I am honoured to be participating with Team Canada at the World Juniors this year. I am grateful for this opportunity to be representing Team Canada and doing so on the biggest stage is an indescribable feeling. I look forward to working hard and setting an example for Canadian squash excellence.”  

The WSF World Junior Squash Championships is one of the most prestigious junior events in the world. It gathers the finest young talent from across the globe. Being able to compete in the 2024 World Junior Squash Championships is a goal many junior athletes have been working toward for a long time.
