Canadian Squad Competing at 2018 Women’s World Team Championship

    The Canadian Women’s Squad is set to compete at the 2018 Women’s World Team Championship.  The Championship features 16 nations and takes place September 10-16 in Dalian City, China.

    The Canadian Women’s Squad is set to compete at the 2018 Women’s World Team Championship.  The Championship features 16 nations and takes place September 10-16 in Dalian City, China. In Pool play, 8th seeded Canada is in Pool A with [1] Egypt, [9] Australia and [13/16] Germany. With the rise in players' PSA world rankings across the board over the last two years, Canada is poised to better its 10th place finish at the 2016 Championship.

    The Canadian Team consists of Danielle Letourneau, Hollie Naughton, Sam Cornett, and Nikki Todd.  Leading the Canadian Squad is Women's National Coach Graeme Williams, as supported by chiropractor and therapist Dr. Tim Marshall.

    Letourneau (AB) appeared in her third consecutive national championship final in May, capturing the 2018 title in front of a hometown crowd at the Glencoe Club in Calgary. She claimed her place on Team Canada by automatic selection earned by winning the Canadian Championship in May. Letourneau is currently #42 on the tour and her most recent PSA titles include: Nash Cup 2016 and Liberty Bell Open 2016.

    Naughton (ON) is currently ranked #35 on the PSA World Tour. Naughton was this year’s runner-up at the Canadian Championships, meaning an automatic spot on the Canadian squad for the 2018 Women’s World Team Championship. Her most recent PSA titles include: Nicola Wealth Open 2016 and OCR Open 2014. As a junior, Naughton won the Pan American Junior Championships in 2013, one of the biggest events for Junior players.

    Cornett (ON) has won 9 PSA world tour titles and is currently ranked at #32, making her Canada’s highest ranked female player. She captured the bronze medal at the 2018 Canadian Squash Championships in May, which earned her a spot on the Canadian squad attending the 2018 Women’s World Team Championships. Her most recent PSA titles include: Women Squash Week Open 2017 and Winnipeg Winter Club Women’s Open 2017.

    Todd (SK) is currently ranked #52 on the tour and won her first ever PSA World Tour title at the Alliance Fabricating Ltd. Simon Warder Memorial Prostate Cancer Open 2017. In December 2017, Todd was recognized for her success on tour and was named PSA Women’s Player of the Month.
