Squash Canada Announces Pan American Junior Team

    Ottawa (ON) – Squash Canada announced today its team competing at the 2014 Pan American Junior Squash Championships which are being held July 13 – 20 in San Salvador, El Salvador.  The Pan American Junior Squash Championships feature the best boys and girls in the U19 age categories in the Pan American region.  Canada’s team is comprised of:

    Ottawa (ON) – Squash Canada announced today its team competing at the 2014 Pan American Junior Squash Championships which are being held July 13 – 20 in San Salvador, El Salvador.  The Pan American Junior Squash Championships feature the best boys and girls in the U19 age categories in the Pan American region.  Canada’s team is comprised of:

    David Baillargeon, 18, from Quebec City. Baillargeon is Canada’s # 1 Junior Player and reigning Canadian U19 Champion.  Baillargeon will also lead Team Canada at the U19 World Individual & Team Squash Championships in Windhoek, Namibia this August.  Baillargeon recently finished an impressive 8th in the Open Division at the Canadian Squash Championships in Edmonton.

    Making his first appearance for Team Canada is 18 year old, Stefan Houbtchev from Windsor, Ontario who is currently ranked #19 in Canada on the Harrow Canadian Junior Rankings.  Houbtchev recently finished in 4th place at the Canadian Junior Squash Championships in the U19 division and is one of the top U19 players in Ontario. 

    Devin Hinchey, 18, from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories will compete in his second Pan American Junior Squash Championships.  A member of the 2013 Canadian Team, Hinchey is currently ranked #24 in the Harrow Canadian Junior rankings. Hinchey is also a member of the Western University Mustangs Squash Team.

    Finally, 16 year old, Matthew Henderson of Victoria, BC has been selected as the fourth player of the Canadian Team.  The talented Henderson recently finished in 5th place at the Canadian Junior Squash Championships in the U17 division as is ranked #9 in the U17 national rankings. 

    The team will be lead by Coach Ben Uliana of Victoria, BC.  Uliana is making his debut coaching Team Canada at the Championships and is a squash professional at the Cedar Hill Squash Club in Victoria.  Uliana was also named the coach of the BC 2015 Canada Games team.  Ontario’s Bob Mansbridge was selected to officiate at the Championships.
